Have you thought about where you'd like your photos taken?

I offer flexibility—whether it's your home, a favourite park, river, lake, or any place that holds meaning for you. You’re also welcome to enjoy the privacy and natural beauty of Loveday Studio and Gardens.

Loveday Studio is climate-controlled, naturally lit, and designed for a relaxed experience, especially for infants and those with mobility needs. The surrounding gardens offer a rich variety of backdrops: rustic paths and gates, a character cottage, native bushland, vineyards, and manicured lawns. We're also close to backwaters and creeks, perfect for capturing candid, natural moments. For children, I often set up treasure hunts in the garden—letting them play and explore while I photograph them naturally.

Some of my favourite photo locations beyond Loveday Studio include:

  • River Murray Backwaters – Loveday
  • Katarapko Creek – Berri
  • Clifftop views over the River
  • Sandbars – Paringa and Overland Corner
  • Nookburra Creek – Kingston on Murray
  • Jarrett Memorial Park – Renmark
  • Lake Bonney – Barmera
  • Beaches – Henley, Glenelg, Brighton, Semaphore
  • Grass paddocks or open fields
  • Farm properties
  • Autumn leaves
  • Spring blossoms

The best time to photograph outdoors is about two hours before sunset—when the light is warm, golden, and beautifully backlit. Early mornings can also work well, offering soft, flattering light.

I generally avoid midday sessions, as the sun is high and harsh, casting strong shadows and reducing the natural softness that makes portraits shine.

Weekend appointments tend to fill quickly, so I recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. And if you're hoping for seasonal photographs—like autumn leaves or spring blossoms—we’ll need to plan well in advance to make the most of those fleeting windows.

To help you prepare for your photography session, I recommend planning and ironing your outfits well in advance. Think classic, timeless fashion—so your photographs always stand the test of time.

Choose a similar tonal range with a touch of variation. Blues, greys, navy, and browns work beautifully together. Alternatively, greens, burgundy, mustard, and brown create another rich, coordinated palette.

Please avoid bold patterns and large logos. Simple, comfortable, and flattering plain clothing works best. Layers like vests, jackets, and scarves can add texture and depth. If you'd like to include a pattern, try to limit it to one person in the group and coordinate the rest around it.

If anyone in your family wears glasses that are highly reflective or darken outdoors, consider asking your optometrist for a clear loan pair or using an older, more suitable pair if available.

One helpful tip: lay out all your family's outfits on a bed and take a quick phone photo. This gives you a visual sense of how the colours and styles blend—without being too uniform or too stark.

If you're unsure about your clothing choices, feel free to send me a photo or give me a call. I'm happy to talk through your ideas and help ease any stress, so you can feel relaxed and carefree during your session.

Additionally, I have a client wardrobe available. If you're interested in using it, just message me and we can explore the options together.

Your selection and ordering appointment will take place at Loveday Studio 1–2 weeks after your photo session. During this meeting, we’ll choose your favourite images and explore display options together.

I can help you visualise portraits on your walls using scaled photographs—making it easy to select the perfect size and layout with confidence. You’ll also find inspiration from the wall display samples and ideas available at the studio.

I’ll guide you through the process to ensure great value and tailor everything to suit your budget and preferences. My business thrives on repeat clients who appreciate the care and quality I offer—from first contact to final product.

I can even assist with hanging your artwork. My goal is for you to enjoy these cherished memories every day. I’m passionate about printed photographs and offer exceptional value on professionally printed pieces.

I look forward to helping you create something truly beautiful!
